According to an article in ZDnet, batteries in the new iPhone 8 and iPhone X may have shorter life spans than those in the previous model.
The battery in contributor Adrian kingshy Hughes iPhone 8plus was raching up recharge cycles at an alarming rate, he wrote.
A Recharge cycle usually takes place when you charge mobile phone from zero percent to 100percent.
Normally, phone batteries start losing their effectiveness after 500 recharges. Around that point, they will maintain up to 80pc of their charge . After that it's usually downhill for their battery.
After only four months, Kingsley Hughes discovered that his new iPhone had hit 91 recharged cycles, a much faster rate than he had seen in his previous iPhones. At that rate, the battery would last about 20 months or even less, if put on and tear were factored into your calculations
That's frightening, doubly so once i take into consideration this apple iPhone has not been heavily used in the 4 months that i have had it He said " And it really is not simply me. I have listened to and also head from other iPhone 8 and iPhone X owners and what i hear from them is that their battery Recharge cycles are in similar aproximtion.
Kingly hunges based on his experienced had expected the battery to least three years before reaching the 500 recycle mark he wrote .
He said the problem might have resulted from the wireless charging features that was introduced to The new iPhones. The wireless charging features make charging more convenient and as such the phones are charged more often which often result to an accelerated recycle count.
However, the technologies themselves don't have an impact on the batter life span.
"There is nothing specific to wireless charging technology that will have an impact on battery life span" said lan fogg, a senior director at IHS market.
